Free Agent - Flames Sign Hudler To Four - Nhl Free Agency 2012 - Year Contract

Jiri Hudler signed a four-year contract Monday with the Calgary Flames , worth a reported $16 million.

The 28-year-old center had 25 goals and 25 assists last season and has 58 goals over the past three seasons with the Detroit Red Wings . The native of Olomouc, Czech Republic was selected in the second round of the 2002 NHL Draft by the Red Wings and had spent his entire career with that organization.

"Jiri Hudler is a highly skilled and dynamic offensive player," Flames general manager Jay Feaster said. "He is one of the very best goal scorers in the NHL at even strength and he puts a very high percentage of his shots on net, generating scoring chances for himself and rebound opportunities for his teammates. He fits our need to upgrade and improve our skill and we are very pleased to have him on board."

Hudler was a member of the Red Wings teams that went to the Stanley Cup Final in back-to-back-seasons, winning in 2008 and losing in 2009. Hudler had nine goals and 17 assists in 45 games during those two playoff runs.
