The Stanley Cup trophy has been known to attend a party or two.Add a special introduction from a little person dressed as a king on his throne, and you have a Las Vegas-style party.
The Los Angles Kings surprised a crowd at the TAO nightclub in the Venetian Resort and Casino by bringing in the trophy Thursday night, hours after they honored their season ticketholders at Staples Center.
Players took their turns drinking champagne out of the bowl and lifting the Cup for photos. Afterward, the players, including Jeff Carter, Mike Richards, Drew Doughty, Trevor Lewis and Brad Richardson, posed up on the stage.
Lord Stanley's Cup has been on a whirlwind tour of Los Angeles that started just hours after it was awarded to the Kings on Monday. A Hermosa Beach pub was its first stop, followed by a Tuesday morning visit to Dustin Brown's backyard. The re, it was used as a larger-than-life chocolate milk bowl for the captain's two oldest sons.
That night it made appearances on The Tonight Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live. On Wednesday, it wrapped up its L.A. tour with a ceremony at Dodger Stadium before the Dodgers-Angels game.
The Stanley Cup is scheduled to be in Las Vegas again next week for the NHL awards show Wednesday night. However, knowing the history of this prestigious trophy, don't be surprised if it pops up elsewhere before then.
